Overview

1966 Superformance GT40 MKI

Ford famously built the original GT40 to beat Ferrari at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and it managed to do that in 1966, sweeping all three places on the podium and proceeding to win in 1967 and 1968 too. After the race car's success, some 30 units were built for the road, each very similar from a mechanical standpoint to the race car but altered to make them a little more suitable for road use.

P2371 is a true ohmage to to Ford's GT40 road car program. The beautiful silver exterior compliments the flowing body lines and accentuates the iridescent chrome trim. This GT40 sits on spline drive Dayton spoke wire wheels with period correct Dunlop tires.

P2371 features period correct mirrors, front winged zuse fittings, double clasp rear clamp latch setup, Ford nose badging, head / running lights, and rear tail vent / lighting arrangement.

The interior dash has been wrapped in black leather with matching pleated leather door pockets. The seats are band sprung and included built in head rests.

The engine bay features custom build, leather lined luggage containers that straddle the bundle of snakes exhaust that is covered with the correct road car shroud. P2371 is powered by a 306 CI V8 that utilized 170cc aluminum heads, hydraulic roller cam, high-rise intake manifold, 670 cfm Holley carburetor, and MSD ignition setup. Power is transferred through a McLeod clutch to the RBT 5 speed transaxle. Furthering authenticity, a period correct Faucet fuel pump set is used along with glass bowl fuel filter.

P2371 is currently registered in New York with 375 miles and available for sale at $249,995.00
