Overview

2007 Noble M400

Car & Driver called the exotic Noble M400 a car that is livable, refined and stupid fast. Now you can put one of the ultra-rare M12 competition models of the M400 - with racing history - from Noble into your collection, but only if you move fast.

The Noble M400 was designed and engineered in England, with its frame and body built in South Africa. To get past the hurdles of emissions and safety standards, the M400 was sold sans engine and transmission much like a Superformance Roadster. AER Manufacturing of Texas put together a custom-engineered Ford 3.0-liter DOHC V-6 with twin turbos for the mid-engine super car that could be installed easily by a shop.

When completed, Car & Driver recorded the standard 2500-pound car with 425 horsepower ripping to 60 mph in 3.3 seconds, matching the time of the Ferrari Enzo that the publication tested previously. The twin-turbo six delivers a raspy exhaust note accompanied by whistling turbos and a waste gate that cracks like Indiana Jones's whip. And this car has even more (560) horsepower!

The competition oriented M400 was the ultimate evolution of the M12. The British Racing Green coupe body evokes the look of a Le Mans prototype. The composite body is fitted with a front splitter, an integrated rear diffuser and a raised rear wing.

The principal difference for the M12 version was the larger displacement Ford Duratec engine with forged pistons and oil squirters. Other elements include a special front anti-roll bar, stiffer springs, different shocks, Pirelli P Zero tires, a smoother gear shifter, and a slightly narrower central tunnel with a more central driving position.

This 2007 M400 (Chassis 216) was previously campaigned as the 'Turbohoses' team race car, a California-based builder familiar to any Noble fan in the USA. VIN #NUS0204 had a championship history including three years championship in ITE and SP with SCCA. The car earned wins in GT-1 at Laguna Seca before a full rebuild by Hoover Chan and conversion back to road use in 2015.

The list of modifications made by Turbohoses includes:
• Kevlar scatter shield
• Carbon fiber fastback
• Nitron shocks, adjustable coilover suspension
• Noble Racing 18″ alloy wheels with M400 center caps.
• Noble Racing four piston calipers over ventilated rotors.
• Single GT30x turbo conversion (Turbohoses) delivering 560 hp
• Upgraded aluminum intercooler and metal intake box.
• Ceramic-coated intercooler piping
• 750cc fuel injectors
• Bosch fuel pump with independent relay
• TurboHoses fuel lines
• Front-mount oil cooler.
• 6-speed manual with quick-shift gear change kit
• Single AP Racing Clutch with Quaife LSD.
• Uprated A/C including condenser and aluminum HVAC box and fans
• Single-exit exhaust system
• Power steering
• Reverse camera

Inside, the cockpit houses Alcantara upholstered fixed back carbon-fiber bucket seats with M400 logo and features a JVC head unit and air conditioning. The headliner wears diamond-pattern stitching, and further details include a push-button ignition system. The steering wheel is detachable Momo and instrumentation consists of a 200-mph speedometer, an 8,000 RPM tachometer and auxiliary gauges indicating oil temperature and fuel level, along with a centrally mounted boost gauge and oil and water temperature gauges.

The digital odometer indicates 12,920 miles, approximately 2,500 were added by the current owner. Available for just $84,995, the car is titled in California under CA SB100 and is SMOG exempt.
